Are they launching this in the My Tasks area? Try right-clicking on the task, choose Properties..., and uncheck the Open In Desktop checkbox.

I did find a solution. Turns out there was an issue in the 'tsmdataviewsettinguser' table for this particular user. Had a backup of the database that was taken a week ago where the problem did not exist and was able to restore the record.

All is good now.

Ah, good catch. Just curious, was the problem with the XML that gets stored in the ColumnAttributes column?

You know, I'm not sure exactly which column had the problem (I copied the whole record). I'm inclined to believe it was in the 'PreviewPaneAttributes'  or the 'DockPaneAttributes' column given the odd placement of some of the window panes.
