Posted Inventory Tran BIE does not tie out with Inventory History BIA

SUGGESTED

The Posted Inventory Tran BIE shows all inventory transactions since the beginning of time.  We have never purged data.  The Inventory History BIE shows ending inventory dollar values for every item-warehouse combination for every period.

In comparing these two BI reports I expect that they would tie out, but they don't.

For example, if I filter the Posted Invt Tran report to show every transaction prior to 9/1/15, and I SUM the TranAmt column, I would expect that value would match the value I see in the Inventory History report if I filter the Inventory History report to show only values for August 2015, and I then SUM the Value column in that report.

Has anyone seen a situation where these two reports don't tie out as you would expect?  If so, did you ever get to the bottom of it?

Using v7.60.6.  Problem is seen in companies using Standard Cost as well as one using Avg Cost.

Thanks.

    Hi Ralph,
I have seen this in the past and it could be that the timInvtHist, timInvtCalPerHist, and timInvtFiscPerHist need to be recalculated or refreshed. I'm not sure what causes it to become out of sync but Sage has a script developed to recalculate the quantities within those tables. It may not be updated for use with your version, but it might not hurt to check with Sage support or your Sage BP. The script is called spDF_RecalcInvtHist740.sql. The script doesn't recalc GL entries or history, and it won't work if you have purged data so it sounds like your companies meet the requirements to run it.

Thanks, Jennifer. I'll request that script from Sage and let you know how it goes. Even if they don't have it updated for 7.6, I still have my 7.4 test system available to run it on which would at least let me know if it solves the problem.
