Running Reports Disconnects Other Users

Sage kicks out other users and locks the user who is running the report out of Excel every time they export a report to Excel in Sage.  It doesn’t seem to cause an issue when exporting as a PDF.  This is quite frustrating in that the user can’t use Excel (or Sage) and the other users can’t use Sage until the report is exported. This can take quite some time if I’m exporting data for P&Ls. We are running Windows 7 with wired connections. The Sage 50 server installation is on a Hyper V managed virtual server running 2012 r2. We've tested this on our production companies and the preinstalled companies that Sage provides and both exhibit this behavior from any computer it was tried on.

Does anyone have any advice on how to work around this or, better yet, fix this problem? We've gone up to the level 2 tech support for Sage, but they said this is working as intended. Is anyone else having the same problem?
