There are several factors that could be involved that will increase the time it takes to open the W-2s:

• If you're on a workstation and the data is on a server
• Speed of processor on the machine you're on
• Amount of RAM on machine you're on
• Connection to the network (should be cable, not wifi)
• Number of employees in the database (unfortunately it has to read every employee in the database--if you had 2 active and 700 inactive, that's why it's taking so long)
• Internet security program could also slow it down if the exceptions haven't been configured correctly

You can use the Existing Reports option to open your history window and quickly get into your draft or history of W2s without having to wait for the data be output each time. Once the history window is open you can check the box next to the draft of the history and then click edit to go right to the History Filing Options dialog.
