You have it.  Back up the program data and move it to the new computer. Sage 50 will do the rest. 

You will do a regular install of the new software on the server machine.  (Follow the instructions that come with the download link.) Once you have restarted your computer after the install, open Sage 50 on the server, go to File > Restore, browse for the backup (best if you move it from the flash drive to the computer)  and follow the prompts.  You will need DATA and FORMS.

Currently on Sage 50 2017 but will be moving to 2018. Will the backup and restore work if I backup on 2017 and then restore into 2018. Or should I backup 2017 and then restore it to 2017 then do the upgrade to 2018. Also cant find a place to download 2017 I have 2018 but the serial number from 2017 doesnt work for the install of 2018.

Hi Vince, 

Just install the 2018 on the new machine.  You don't need the 2017.  When you go to open the company, Sage will add the new features to the data.

Can't install 2018 on the new server. It wants a serial number. Serial number on 2017 wont work on 2018. 

Does sage send a new serial number when upgrading from one version to the next?

You should have received an email about a year ago containing the serial number for 2018. If you cannot locate it you can log into the customer portal to find it. If that doesn't work if you can send me a message on here with your customer ID number and a number to contact you I will be more than happy to work with you to get that serial number.
