Problem with exporting check information

This is a technical question. I'm doing research on behalf of a client who is interested in integrating Sage 50 into another system of theirs.

Basically, we have a few processes where we import/export files to/from Sage 50. In the system we’re connecting too, we have custom invoice numbers we want to pass along to Sage 50 during a transaction import. Then after those invoices are paid in Sage 50, we want export the check information WITH the custom invoice number back out, to feed this into the other system.

From what I can see, there doesn’t seem to be a way to export information on checks used to pay transactions and also include additional fields from the invoice. The only field I can see is the Trans No which appears to be an auto-generated ID for transactions. I need a way to export check information with MY custom invoice number. Is there a way to accomplish this in Sage 50?

EDIT: So if you read the replies below, you can do everything I described above in the US version just fine. I'm not actively looking for help anymore on this. For anyone attempting to do a similar workflow in the Canadian version, more research may need done.

  • Hi acuffman,

Which version of Sage 50 are you using?  Sage 50 Canada or Sage 50 US?  Please let us know so we can move this post to the correct forum.

    Thanks,

    Derek

Hi Derek. My client is using the US version. I have a trial version installed on my machine, however it's actually the Canada version. I didn't realize they were separate when I was installing it. The integration will be for the US version. Is there a separate link to install the US version of the trial?

Thanks for clarifying.  I will move your post to the Sage 50 US Support Group.  Sage 50 Canada and Sage 50 US are separate programs that operate differently from each other.

Ok thank you. Forgive my ignorance. Is the interface of the US version similar enough that my screenshot is applicable? Is there a separate download for the US trial version?

The programs would look and operate differently.  I don't have a link to the US trial version but I am sure another user in the community can point you in the right direction.

There is also additional information on Sage 50 US at this link:

Hi!  Here is the US interactive trial.  http://go.na.sage.com/S50US_Trial_3  It is not a download.  I don't know that you can try your import here but you can try out the program.

I am a Sage 50 Reseller and if you contact me directly I might be able to help you figure out if this will work for you and also explain all of your business care (support) options.

I do want to share that if you decide to go forward with Sage 50 and it is not the right software, there is a 60 day money back guarantee.

Please do email or call us and we will set up a time to review your import with you.

Thank you very much for the reply. I just logged in to that US trial and monkeyed around a bit. The interface for the US version is totally different. I was able to set up a workflow to solve my needs.

I'm still not sure if it's possible to do what I set out to do in the Canadian version, but I don't really care about that since I'm using the US version. I'm going to edit the post above to note that my problem doesn't really exist in the US version, only in the Canadian version.
