import into payroll journal

I am trying to import an employees name, check #, account, amount , and pay pate into the payroll journal.

I set it up in the correct mmddyy format, I created a csv file, I select ONLY the columns that I need, but I get errors for missing info like" field id" when I did not even had it selected.

I even exported the payroll journal with current data, then I replaced with what I wanted to import. But I still am getting errors. I have called tech support at sage several times and they keep saying they are not allowed to help me since I am using a third party software. I am using EXCEL which they say to use.

    If you are getting an error on a field that you have not selected, that means it is a required field.  I don't remember which fields are required  when importing payroll, but I know it's a lot more than the fields you listed. I'm sure that Pay Field-Number and Number of Distributions are both required. The payroll import has a fairly complex layout. If you're doing payroll in another system you may want to consider importing paychecks into the Payments Journal, or even the General Journal, as their file layouts are simpler.
