Sorting customers by ID instead of name

It is frustrating that we can't set the default to sort by customer name instead of ID number.  I can't remember hundreds of numbers (which is the better identifier) and going to the bottom of the screen and changing how it's sorted for every transaction is time consuming and frustrating.  I would like to be able to type in the first few letters of customers name to find the account.  This would apply to all screens on the customer sides.

Hi Susanne, to be able to properly sort your customer, you need to have a customer structures. We usually did was the first three (3) letters  of customer's first name plus the first two letters of customer's second name plus number increment (in case there will be a same customer ID. For example:

    CUSTOMER NAME

    CUSTOMER ID

    CEBU OVERSEA HARDWARE

    CEBOV-01

    CEBU LOGISTICS INC

    CEBLO-02

    CEBU LOGICAL BUILDERS

    CEBLO-01

I hope this will help you.

We've been a long time customer of Sage.  It is not possible at this point to re-label all of our customer numbers.  This doesn't seem like a difficult programming adjustment.  Why hasn't Sage addressed it?

You have been able to change your customer ID for years.  Go to Maintain Customer and Click on the Change ID button in the top menu bar.  All information associated with the original customer will be modified to the new customer ID.

You cannot do a massive change, just one at a time.

This is a single user event.
