opening 2016 data in 2020

Question

I have a client that purchased a new laptop and installed Sage50 Quantum 2020 on it. When they try to open their data from Sage 50 2016, they get an error that an older version of the Actian Zen database is already running and requires a newer version of the Actian Zen database in order to run.

I've tried a Repair installation of Sage50 Quantum 2020, but the Actian PSQLv13 Workgroup R2 program has already been installed. User got the same error. 
 I've tried stopping and starting the Actian Zen database engine, but the same error pops up. 
 I've tried manually uninstalling/reinstalling the Actian Zen database engine - same error pops up. 
 
 Do I need to convert the file first? The data is on a network drive on a server.

Both the new laptop and the Server should have the same version of Sage50 Quantum 2020 running. On the Server open Sage go to Help and About Sage, This will tell you the version and service release the server is running by the Release and Build Number information. If the servers release is Quantum 2020 and the build number is 27.0 that would mean the server is running Quantum 2020's original release. If the Build number is 27.1, then the .1 means you are running the 1st service release, .2 the 2nd service release. If you are installing Sage version 2020.0 on the laptop then the server needs to be running 2020.0. 
 Once you get them all running the same version and build, you should be able to open the data from the workstation, then Sage will prompt you to convert it.
