Sage 50 Accountant 2019

I have Sage 50 Accountant 2019 standalone version installed. I was using it yesterday (July 31, 2023) but today, Aug 1, 2023, when I launch the application, it is trying to find a Sage activation server. It fails to find an activation server, gives an error message, then closes. My standalone application has never done this. Is Sage preventing me from using the application?

  • You can not reactivate it.  This message has been posted for over a year.  As of September 30th,  all programs 2020.1 and earlier can not reactivated.  If you are looking for an updated program,  we can help you.   We have a summer special going on now.  Please call or email us and we can get you up and running today.

    Thank you for responding.

I did not reinstall Sage 50, so I'm not trying to reactivate it. It is trying to activate on its own, but I have never seen it do this. I have a standalone version. Does Sage 50 simply stop working and holds my information hostage until I upgrade?

If you wish to continue to use Sage, you do need to upgrade.   Many people are seeking a version that is not a subscription but they no longer exist.  If you do find one, you will be scammed.   Please don't look in that direction.

I was the last Sage 50 consultant to have perpetual stock.  I have sold out.  Everything else you purchase going forward will only turn to a subscription.  Some sooner than later after they scam you for big bucks!

Here is the most recent information from Sage. https://www.bestbusinessstrategies.com/sage-50-critical-security-updates-expire-sept-2023/

As of September 30th, all 2020.1 and earlier will quit working!

If you wait until the last minute, it could take you over a week to have your order processed.  Maybe this is a blessing it is happening to you today!

Please contact me directly if you would like a quote.

    Kind regards,

Here is the letter from Sage that explains why this is happening.  You will need to purchase the latest Sage 60 version to continue using Sage. If you would like a quote for the upgrade, please give me a call at 800 303-7770 and ask for Kim. We are an Authorized Sage Partner.

    Dear Valued Customer:

We are writing to remind you about some critical security updates that impact versions 2020.1 and earlier of Sage 50/Peachtree. On September 30, 2023, you will be unable to reinstall or reactivate the following older versions of Sage 50: version 2020.1 and all prior versions. If you do not take action prior to September 30, 2023, you will lose access to Sage 50.

    What is changing?

Transport Layer Security (TLS) v1.0 and 1.1 is a third-party component that is used in versions 2020.1 and earlier of Sage 50 that we no longer support due to security-related issues. Newer versions of Sage 50 no longer utilize TLS v1.0 and v1.1.

What does this mean for me?

If you are using an older version of Sage 50 that is impacted by this change, the next time the software attempts a license validation check after September 30, 2023, an error will appear, and you will be prevented from accessing the software.

What do I need to do?

To avoid disruption to your business, we strongly recommend you upgrade to the latest supported version (2023.0) of Sage 50. In doing so, you will receive critical security updates relating to this protocol that better help protect your data.

Since you are not on an active plan, you will have the following options:

    • Option 1: Purchase a subscription to the latest version of Sage 50, which includes auto renewing subscription fees.

    • Option 2: If you do not intend to upgrade, you must export your data before your access to Sage 50 expires on September 30, 2023.
