Populating lists of services and cost codes in the time and expense tickets

The process of building lists of service and cost codes appears straightforward with Sage50 2014 edition.  However, I have not been able to get the lists to appear in the dropdown line of ticket detail; Charge Item for the expense ticket and Activity Item for the time ticket.  It is not possible to save a ticket without choosing a code, and you cannot manually enter it on the line.  My business is consulting where time and expenses are billed to clients. At this point I am unable to use this feature.  I have been unsuccessful in finding anything in the help menus or manual.

    I am having this same issue.  Jobs, Customers, Employees are all set up.  Set up Activity Code ID, but nothing shows in drop down box on Time Ticket entry if I use Service or Labor, only Activity Item but then I can't get the cost to show in the job reports.

    Time tickets only record time. They do not get recorded in the general ledger until they are either used in payroll or billed on an invoice. If you use time tickets, you must set up activity items in Maintain, Inventory Items. You must use the Activity item on the ticket, then pay the employee using time tickets in order for any job allocation to show on job reports. If you do not use time tickets, you can assign hours manually to a job by using the Jobs button on payroll entry.
