How to print notes on the service ticket for field mechanic? Notes should be saved but not printed on the invoice.

We would like to include notes to the filed mechanics on the service ticket.  The notes would not be included on the invoice.  We would like to have the notes saved to the sales or job number for future reference.  What is the best way to accomplish this?

    I'm assuming by service ticket you're referring to a customer invoice. There are a couple of possibilities:

    If you click the Note button on an invoice, there is a field for internal note. This note will not print on any form and is available for viewing only. It has a limit of 2000 characters.

    If you need more than that, I would suggest putting the notes in a notepad text document and save the document as an attachment by clicking the Attach button on an already existing invoice.

    What I am referring to is once a sales order is created the system gives you a list of forms to print. One of the forms is the service ticket. We use this ticket for our field mechanics to take with them which list the work and materials for the specific sales order. The service ticket does not print costs associated with the line items. We would like to have line items or notes for the service ticket which are just for the field mechanic for example…. See a specific person prior to beginning the job or remove a part before replacing. These notes would not be appropriate for the sales invoice, however we would like to keep the notes with the sales order. Idealy we would like to type the notes with the sales order so they print on the service ticket. Is there a way to do this?
  • Use the note at the top of the sales order! It is the little yellow pad in the top menu. Have it print after the items on the sales order.

    If you need more than what the Sage 50 note offers, I would suggest using the ACT! program. You could store all of your customer information, appointments, parts, what services you performed and when you need to follow up with the client in Act! This program links to Sage 50 so in the end, you could tie the information together without duplicate key entry.
