1099 NEC

Sage decided to let it's software vendor chose how to present Form 1099-NEC this year.  IRS still requires red copy and the traditional preprinted 3 up form does not work in the Aatrix software.  The only way to use the software is to buy blank 4 up forms and the only place they are available is at Sage website. Also, IRS still requires red Form 1096, but the software does not allow you to print on the preprinted 1096 either.  Looks like Sage and Aatrix conspired to force feed you into on line filing.  All well and good, but at $14.95 for a single 1099-NEC, that is a bit of a scam.

    Hi ,

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. We understand that changes in form requirements and software updates can be a source of frustration.

For the 1099-NEC forms, it's important to note that Sage 50 US Edition has updated the process. The software is designed to print 'Payer' and 'Recipient' copies on 4-part perforated paper, while the 'Federal' and 'State' copies are intended for blank paper. As for the red copy of the Form 1096, a waiver has been obtained under the IRS substitute forms policy (https://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc253) which allows for printing on plain paper.  Sage has also transitioned to support filing these forms electronically to streamline the process.

We acknowledge that the electronic filing fee for a single 1099-NEC form may seem high. This feedback is valuable, and we aim to balance the convenience of e-filing with cost efficiency for our users. We'd be happy to assist further if you need help with settings, or if you'd like to explore alternatives for filing your forms. Please reach out to our support team for any assistance required.

    Warm regards,

    Erzsi

Agree entirely. This is beyond frustrating when in the past the 3 part forms worked .... so that's what I purchased. I also file for two other companies, who use Quickbooks and use the 3 part form. The workaround of printing the Federal copy onto the recipient 3 part forms also no longer works because Sage's system does not give option of printing on a preprinted or blank page - they only allow printing on blank page.

Corporate answer.  No where do I remember Sage telling us how the forms in the system would be formatted.  Ultimately I have bought around $300 worth of useless forms and mailing envelopes.
