1099 Misc & NEC

First of all, I have no idea why Sage changed the 1099 forms. You can no longer print them from Sage. Its ridiculous. The new program is horrible. None of the Tax ID numbers line up. I have no idea how to line them up. The deadline is next week. Why did they do this?? We might switch accounting programs after 20 years of Sage. I hate this.

Also, they are trying to tell me that the IRS no longer uses the Red forms? I don't think so. The IRS website does not say that. The IRS sample form says you must use this Red form that they will not allow you to have unless you buy it from them. I already bought some from Quill. I despise these programs and the IRS. All greedy crooks who keep changing every thing so they can make more money. And waste more of my time.

Ultimately I am probably going to make a template on Excel and use trial and error to line everything up. I'm guessing it will take 4 days to do these 6 recipients. Thanks Sage.

    Hello  ,

I'm sorry to hear about the frustrations you're facing with the changes to the 1099 forms in Sage. I understand how important it is to have a smooth process, especially with the impending deadline.

Regarding the changes, Sage has indeed updated the 1099-NEC forms to improve the filing process. These forms are now structured to print 'Payer' and 'Recipient' copies on 4-part perforated paper, with 'Federal' and 'State' copies for blank paper. This change aligns with the IRS substitute forms policy, which also permits the printing of Form 1096 on plain paper instead of the red copy, aiming to simplify the process for electronic filing as well.

For the misalignment issue with the Tax ID numbers, our support team is on hand to help you adjust your settings so that everything lines up correctly. They can guide you step by step, ensuring you meet your deadlines without having to resort to creating a template from scratch.

We hear your concerns about the electronic filing fee and are constantly looking for ways to offer cost-effective solutions to our users. Your feedback is invaluable in this endeavor. Hope this helps.

    Warm regards,

    Erzsi

I do not see anywhere on the IRS website that indicates that plain white paper can be used. Where are you seeing that?
