SETTING UP A 401K

SUGGESTED

I am setting up a 401k for employees.  I need to set up an account for this and want to make sure I'm doing it correctly.

I somewhat understand adding the deduction under maintain employee, but I don't know about the account itself.

Thank you.

    Troy McGowen-

Please see enclosed article for setting up a deduction for a 401k - How do I set up 401K, Roth 401K or IRA deduction? .  For the employee deduction, the credit account is for the liability account you define for the 401k deduction.  If you will be doing an employer match, the credit account is the liability account defined for the 401k deduction (this can be a separate liability account from the employee deduction) and the debit account is the expense account you define for the employer contribution.

You will need to make the determination of which accounts to use for your company.  If you are not sure which account to use for your company, we would then refer you to your CPA or accounting specialist for further assistance.

    Sincerely,
