Error when opening payroll reports - Access violation in module Task0150.exe

SUGGESTED

Hello! We process our payroll in Sage BusinessWorks. After printing checks, we print out the Check Register report.

We had no problems last week; however, after printing checks and attempting to open the register report today, we got the following error message:

Access violation at address 0072D587 in module 'Task0150.exe'. Read of address 00000000.

Clicking OK leads to a second message:

A database error has occurred while performing an operation. (CDSFilter: Cannot perform this operation on a closed dataset)

I've tried opening a variety of reports from the Reports menu, with the same result. We have tried opening BusinessWorks on two different workstations and each one has the same outcome.

We've also restarted the server that BW is hosted on, no change. And no updates or changes have been made to our BW installation in the past week.

  • Just tested General Ledger reports (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, etc) with the same results - getting the same error message and the report doesn't open.

You will need to open a support case with sage on monday. This is what I found on the portal, see below:

A program is locking Midas.dll file which is causing it not to be updated when we install the program.

Contact support to replace and manually register Midas.dll with the version necessary for Sage BusinessWorks 2021.

    Hello,

I did speak with support. Their first suggestion was to update to the current service pack (we were running SP4, and SP5 is the latest version). After updating, the error was not fixed.

I then uninstalled and reinstalled the BW client at one workstation. After reinstalling, the error was gone and I could open reports like normal.

We've reinstalled BW at each affected workstation and that's fixed the problem.
