Server 2012 R2 Terminal Server with BW 2013 Database server

SUGGESTED

All,

We are in the process of moving from BW 2010 to the latest version of BW 2013. The former admin did no upgrades and in turn no favors to this company. I am tasked with doing all of the upgrades for the software as well as migrating to the latest Windows OS and Terminal Services for the users.

I am currently running the users on the system I inherited, hence he dilemma:

The Business Works side of the network is a 2003 (Not R2) terminal server for all users that are on the VPN. All of the local users (In Office) use BW from a network install on a Server 2003 (Not R2, seeing a pattern here??) and the data resides on yet another Server 2003 (NotR2, HA!) with BW 2010.  I forget the exact revision, but it is nonetheless out of date.

I want to have a single server that house all of our network databases , Business Works just being one of them. This in theory will be a Server 2012 R2 with Pervasive for Business Works and SQL for other database programs we have.  This server will also be the local install point for all users to run BW and our other software.

The network will have a separate server that will run Active Directory along with the user profiles, documents, printers and Terminal Services for the remote users.

1. I have seen that Server 2012 R2 is supported on BW 2013 as long as I do not use the CLI to install the latest versions, I am fine with this install choice Is this a for sure thing?

2. Can I run this from a Terminal Server on Server 2012 R2 for all of my remote users?

3. I want to use Terminal Services in the way I described above but have seen people having database timeout errors and ODBC errors after varying amounts of time. Is this a viable and VERY solid solution?

4. Can I use a Virtual Machine for remote access with VMWare vCenter? The former admin bought a new(er) Dell server and either had the foresight or just simply didn't know he was purchasing VMWare vCenter.  i know I can remote access the desktops with Windows 7 VM's. Is this a better solution with Business Works?

I know this is a lot to go through but any help you can give is much appreciated.
