PLEASE READ! CryptoWall or Ransomware Virus Attack

1 minute read time.

We have had repeated reports of clients data being infected with what has been dubbed a Cryptowall or Ransomware virus. Here is a listing of the known symptoms with clients data folders:

  • Customer receives a message that their data needs to be upgraded, despite not upgrading to a newer version of Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate or applying any updates.
  • "[File] is incompatible. Click [OK] to upgrade this file. If you click [Cancel], you can upgrade this file later."
  • File Doctor printout reports "...Unable to open file: Incompatible data file."
  • Estimating database prompts for password even though one has not been applied.
  • CM Transaction file is incompatible.

The current recommendation is to contact your IT personnel immediately and report the issue to have them remove the virus. After removal of the virus has been confirmed from all machines, restore the affected data from your last full backup (i.e. complete data folder backup)

Note: Do not follow the instructions found in these files as it may result in further data corruption.
