Closing payroll year and no historical data

Question

Hello, I followed the steps to closing payroll and under show archives it lists the 2014 payroll file. When I open the file there is no data also when I was about to post the payroll for 2015 there is no more historical data in Sage for any year. I was told to restore my back up but I don't feel confident restoring without further instructions. Can I just restore payroll files or do I need to do a full restore? What steps are required? Thank you.

Hi Laurie, 
 You'll need to restore the full backup and do the payroll close again. Suggest first renaming both directories you currently have (2014 Payroll data and your current company) to a different name to preserve them in case Support needs to see them. Also, if you are on a network it is always recommended that you pull your company data down to a local drive to do the close or do the close directly at the network
