Assigning a job # when starting a takeoff

Question

We need to be able to assign a temporary name/number to each takeoff as we do not assign job #s until the bid is won. Is there any way to assign a temporary name that can be changed to our job numbering system later? Would prefer not to assign job numbers when doing a takeoff.

Unfortunately you must assign a job number. 
Option 1: 
Assign job numbers sequentially and have gaps between your awarded jobs. 
 
Option 2 
You could use a different range of job numbers for the estimates and then export /import the estimate from the estimate number to the new job #. 
Then mark the estimates as refused so they get archived. 
 
Option 3 
If you do a tremendous amount of estimating compared to awarded jobs you could creat a separate company database just for estimating. 
Then if you get the job you can export the estimate from that database and import it to your regular company to whatever job number you have assigned it to.
