How do I correct the counts in the Quarterly Employee Count Report?

SOLVED

The Quarterly Employee Count Report is correct for April and May but incorrect for June.  We have several employees that have worked in all three months of the quarter and are active that are not being counted in the report now for June only.

    Hi PSK!

The Employee counts are based on two factors. To be included in the count for June, the employees' check for the pay period that includes the 12th of the month must have that states XXSUI_E Taxable wages.

When we see employees who are not counted we fine that either:

    1. The pay period end date was entered incorrectly so that the 12th was not included. For example, a weekly payroll that ends on the 11th, then the next period ends on the 19th. Because the pay period is 7 days, the first check includes the 5th through the 11th, the next check the 13th through the 19th. The employees then are excluded from the count.

    2. They pay period that included the 12th did not have any wages for that state's SUI tax. You can verify by going to Inquiry, Check Information, Check Activity, Current file. Find the check for the employee that includes the 12th and double click on the Employer taxes amount to see which states' SUI tax shows Taxable wages.

If you still need help, you can contact support and we can assist you with finding the affected employees and making corrections.

I called support on this one. It turns out there needs to be checks that include the Period End Date of the 12th of the month. In my case, the last Period End Date was the 10th of the month. So, I called the Payroll Manager and advised her to run the report again after she does the check run for the 25th of the month. She did that and the report came out as expected.
