This was posted in Sage 100 Contractor:

Sage does not recommend / support the use of a VPN.  I can tell you from doing this for 14 years as a consultant that a VPN will likely corrupt your data, time out and not fully utilize the read/write function of the transactional and relational database engines (if that's too geeky, what you enter may not be what arrives in the database tables)  We put people on RDS/Citrix/Azure Cloud environments all the time with time tested success.  You can also use any of the remote access programs and remote directly to your computer at the office.

Good Luck and Stay Safe,  Howard.

We remote in to our desktops from home using Netextender and a remote login.  Works great!

I am working from home right now.  I'm working through a remote desktop connection.  The only thing I can't do remotely is print checks.  Everything else in Sage 300 CRE and Sage Paperless Construction works great for me.

We use a VPN and Remote Desktop (RDP) to connect to the In-house Terminal Server.  The Terminal Server is just like connecting to a desktop on the network.  Sage is installed on one of our in-house servers, and mapped to each of our users terminal server profiles. We've had very smooth sailing with this setup, having done it since 2014, for all users.
Recently, we had to upgrade our server. We were using Rackspace and decided to bring the new server to a local facility. But, in either setting, connection is smooth.

    KellieG,

VPN+RDP or your quoted message below is essentially the answer to working remotely for Sage 300 CRE. If your company does not currently have this in place this would be a project for your IT team to take on.

So we can work from we should just use RDS/Citrix/Azure, is that what you're saying

    thanks so much

Thanks so much, my company is too cheap to hire an IT guy to set me up - again, thanks so much

Kelly, there are several inexpensive programs that you can setup yourself. Like "LogMeIn" and "TeamViewer" . I think both offer a 30 day free trial. Your just logging in to your PC instead of the server.  You may not have limited print options but I think it's worth researching for you.

When I moved to Hawaii I continued working for a Dallas auto lender. I used VPN to work the database and TeamViewer to print.

Yesterday afternoon I set up TeamViewer at my new job for Sage 100 Contractor at work. Played a bit when I got home (made simple needed changes that went through) and what I printed from home was waiting when I arrived at the office today.

TeamViewer/Netextender/LogMeIn give remote access to a computer same way Sage Support does their Remote Support Session through WebEx. Set work computer up to allow remote login, go home, login, and it is the same as if you were physically at the office keyboard.

installing WebViewer is as easy as installing any other program.
