Sage Windows Popping Up Off Screen

I am having an issue with Sage windows popping up off screen.  For instance, when I go into Service Management to edit time entries...the box that normally pops up to edit those entries is popping up somewhere off screen....so I can not see it, move, minimize, maximize it.  Anything.  Any help?

  • I have had this same issue.  I think it was a glitch in one of the updates and has not been fixed yet.  The work around is to go into the APPLICATION itself before opening a task.  So you would have to open Service Management, then go to tasks, edit time entries.   I know this is extremely frustrating and I hope they get it fixed soon!

So frustrating!  I have been going into the application for all the other modules as a go around.  But I have been going into Service Management the exact way that you suggested and mine is still popping up off screen.  Thanks for letting me know it's not just me!

  • Are you seeing the icon in your taskbar? If so, you can try holding the SHIFT key down and then Right-Click on the icon in the taskbar.  Then click on MOVE, hit the left arrow key a few times, and then use your mouse to pull it onto the screen. This works a lot of the time but not always.

    Hope it works for you!

  • I have had this problem as well using 2 screens. Certain pop ups go right so I use only my left screen for Sage. Sage had said it was a windows issue but our It dept says it;s Sage.

    Hi Lisa,

You can find the solution for this issue in the knowledgebase here:

Substitute "Service Management" instead of "Project Management"

    Thanks!

  • The window compositing off-screen can be accessed with ALT-Spacebar to activate the Windows menu.

Arrow down to move, then your left or right cursor arrow will start moving the window.

You can also use your mouse to move at that point, but DO NOT click! The titlebar of the window will stick to your cursor UNTIL you click.

This works for any Windows app, it just happens that Sage and its numerous modules have it happen more often than most. Excel is another app that can have this happen.

  • Our trick to deal with this (as long as it is actually opened off screen) is to open the application that it is associated with and move that window.  For example: if the pop up window is off screen on the right move the application window to the left monitor and vice versa for the the left.  You can exit the application window and from this point on the pop up window should be on screen. I have also found that if you just use the arrow key it will move (as long as you have not click on anything else), or just hit enter (if applicable) but these are only that session fix.  Side Note: We have also experienced not being able to access certain tasks/inquiry/reports when going through the Desktop tree.  You can select it but it never actually opens but has you in it (not off screen or behind) and I have to end task to get out and the trick above does not fix.   I will have to try the knowledge base article below next time it happens.   I hope this helps.  Have a great day everyone.

  • Tracy,

If the previous recommendations don't resolve your problem, there is another known issue with Sage Desktop.  If you are opening Sage Desktop an any monitor other than your primary, then subsequent windows may eventually open "behind" the Desktop and cannot be reached.  The immediate solution is to use Task Manager to End the Task on the window you cannot access.  Then move Sage Desktop to your primary monitor, close Sage Desktop and reopen (and never move it from your primary monitor).  Other windows (Applications, Tasks, Reports, etc.) can then be opened/placed in any monitor without issue.  See Sage's article for more information.
