Trade name does not appear on W2

Hey folks,

We are a corporation doing business as another company. I used to be able to get both the corporation name and the DBA on our W2s, but now it only prints the corporation name. Both are listed in the company setup in Aatrix, and both print on the 1099s, it's just the W2s I have trouble with. Has anyone else experienced this and come up with a solution for it?

Try using Address Line 1 as the DBA name and put the address on Address Line 2.

Thanks for the input! I had considered that as an option, but I was hoping there was a way to get that field to show up like it does on the 1099s. Ah well.

UPDATE: Tried it - Aatrix won't accept our trade name in that field. Looks like is has to contain a number because it's an "address".

Hi MEC5700,

The IRS Instructions say you should file your W-2 and W-3 with the same business name used to file your other forms:

Aatrix reports use the Trade Name on the company setup when generating W-2s for this:

This will print on the W-3:

Hopefully this helps you with your forms.

Mine is setup that way and the trade name refuses to show up on the W2. I don't have the same issues with the 1099s. It's very odd.
