Additional information.... all lines are rejecting for the same reason.

Can you paste a snip of the first column or two of the text file? I bet the first column is not formatted correctly.

Maybe I am saving as the wrong kind of text file. I import GL all the time, but I seem to have issues with JC.

Ahh, so you are doing a fixed-width delimited import. I always recommend comma-delimited because it is easier to spot and fix issues. And, looking at the help menu, JC wants a comma-delimited file. If this was comma-delimited, it should look like the following.

DC,22-320,,90-100,2,2,013124,013124,Jan-24 indirect alloc to JC,,,3286,,,013124JE04  (Not sure what the 22320 should be)

These are what each item should be. If you aren't using one of them, you need to have a comma for it. You should never end with a comma. Reference 1 and Reference 2 can be omitted without the commas.

DC,JobID, ExtraID (blank if not used),CostCode,Category,Transaction Type (2=Job Cost),Transaction Date, Accounting Date, Description,Units,UnitCost,Amount,Debit Account,Credit Account,Reference1,Reference2

If you go to the Help menu in JC, type "importing" in the Index tab and select "direct costs layout" to see what I'm trying to describe above.

I don't see the commas in your example. However, based on your error message, I would recommend opening this file using notepad. Do a file "save as" and pay attention to the bottom right encoding type. If it says "UTF-8" change the type to "ANSI" and save. UTF-8 formats embed hidden characters that you will never see and you will receive the message you mentioned. You may have to go back to an original file or resave the .csv in Excel and rename it to .txt and fix that file. From now on when you save in Excel I would choose "CSV-(MS-DOS)" to protect from this. Also, if you edit in notepad be aware that the default save maybe "UTF-8". While in there check to see if the commas are still there.
