Unable to copy NEW.PRX and PR Tax file not found.

SUGGESTED

After a server update, I'm having trouble with two of three clients I've tried.  One client cannot successfully complete the install (details in a separate question).  But the one that did complete the install and subsequent update starts (after login) with this error:

Going into Payroll, before clicking anything: "Unable to copy NEW.PRX"

Setup | Employees: "PR Tax file not found. T:\TIMBERLINE\MISC\TAX.PRX"

(Same error message is also produced by Tools | Tax Calculator)

Tools | Update Taxes: "The PR Tax file was not found.  The file will be created." (even though it exists)

After clicking OK: "Drive not available." (even though the drive is correctly mapped).

The other client which installed successfully is able to perform all the above operations without error.

I forgot to mention, this is Sage CRE, after an upgrade from 9.8 to 13.1.24 (13.1.0 Rev 5 acc Update 5)

Hi  - I would check your file locations found under file>Company Settings>File locations for the PR Tax - I bet it has the old server location.  (PR Tax is at the bottom of file locations)

I forgot to mention - there is a knowledgebase article with step by step instructions on places to look for the tax.prx - it is article 21181  "Error:  PR Tax file not found.  (locate the current tax file)."

Since this post relates to a technical support question for Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate, I will move this post to that group so that other users of this product will see it and be able to offer their thoughts and insight.

The Construction & Real Estate Business Group is for non-technical questions and would be a suitable forum if you are involved with property management, consulting, project management, or estimating in this industry.

    Thanks,

    Derek

In PR - File - Company Settings - File Locations:  Where does it say the PR Tax file resides?  This is where the client is looking for the TAX.PRX file.  If it's not found where File Location says it is, you will get the error you are describing.

Thanks, Rhonda (and Char).  There I found the path to the mapped drive (T:), which was mapped correctly to the server, though it was not being found by Sage CRE.  On a whim, I tried replacing the mapped drive path with the UNC path, and it works now.

I suspect the mapped drive failed due to Sage CRE requiring elevated permissions, thus causing it to run in a separate context from the one in which the drive was mapped (I have experienced that problem before with other apps).

Now, to find out why CRE is requiring elevated permissions to function...
