Mobile Time Entry

SUGGESTED

We are about to enter scary territory...we're thinking of getting smartphones for all of our construction guys, and some of them won't like it. We want to do that to do mobile time entry. They're REALLY not going to like that. So I ask...what is the most user-friendly and least frustrating solution? Sage Construction Anywhere? AboutTime? We have roughly 35 employees and using Sage 300 CRE. Thanks for your help!

We use HH2 for web base time entry. Not sure it's best, but integrates with Sage & is reasonably priced.

We're using ExakTime at three jobsites prep to rolling it out more widely. I'm using 10" Android tablets connected via job trailer Wi-Fi, one tablet per 5 people on a crew, so signing in isn't delayed. They enter employee number, pick the cost code from the list (limited to the specific cost codes on the job estimate), push start and they're on the job. There is a selfie taken every entry to keep buddy punching to a minimum.

The integration with payroll works well, we figure 3 manually re-keyed time sheets takes as much time as importing 50 timesheets. The time sheet approval is still a bit manual because a paper trail is required for certified payrolls, but it still saves a TON of time.

The office staff use it as well, I just added another tablet for easier access. We are looking at putting it on the floor of our manufacturing facility as well, that will require 3-5 distributed devices.

ExakTime is not priced to put on every person's phone, so that may take it out of consideration for what you're doing. We have had prior experience with automated timekeeping for our Service Dept techs using another product integrated with work order / dispatch that ties directly in to Service Management. For 40-50 techs, paper timesheets were a full-time 40 hr week position. Now it is a 30 min / day position split across 3 dispatchers, with 20 minutes for timesheet approval once a week. You can buy a lot of cabbage with savings like that.

Does ExakTime work with SM?  I was looking at HH2...does that work with SM?  We too are looking into

We investigated several options and found many of the other contractors in our area who do the same type of work (Commercial Paint/Drywall) were using AboutTime. They were very satisfied with how it works. We are currently rolling-out AboutTime. As of today approximately 25 of our 50 employees are clocking their time using iPhones or Android smartphones. We use Sage 100 Contractor, but the integration should be roughly the same as 300 CRE. We have had some issues, but the people at AboutTime were fast, courteous and in most cases had answers or solutions in minutes.

You can also check out Sage Construction Anywhere - http://na.sage.com/us/sage-construction-and-real-estate/sage-construction-anywhere for a mobile time keeping and cost reporting solution for Sage products.

We are currently looking into AboutTime. Are you still using it? If not, why? What has your experience been?

We are currently implementing HH2 Remote Payroll for ~50 carpenters/painters to integrate with our Sage 300 CRE system. They have downloaded the app onto their smartphones. Adoption is going well with a few issues on the app which HH2 support has been responsive to resolve. Integration with Sage 300 is straightforward and pricing is reasonable.
