Sage 300 CRE: Supported version for year-end 2019

Supported version for year-end 2019

Starting with year-end 2019, we will begin exclusively supporting the latest version of Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate. For the 2019 year-end, we will support version 18. The year-end update for version 18 will be available in December.

When planning for year-end 2019, please note:

  • If your version is 16.1 or higher, you can upgrade directly to version 18. If your version is earlier than 16.1, review KB 23783: Upgrade path for Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate.
  • Version 18 of Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate is not compatible with Sage Estimating (Pervasive). If you are still using a Pervasive version of Sage Estimating, we recommend updating to Sage Estimating (SQL) version 18.12, or to version 19.11 (which is planned to release this summer).
  • As announced on July 23, 2018, Document Management will be retired in December 2019 and an integration will not be included with Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate starting with version 18.3 (which is planned to release this summer). For information about other options available to you, contact your Sage business partner.

Tip: To verify which Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate version you are currently using, select Help > About [Application] in the application’s menu.

  • ??? What are you posting about?

What is supporting the latest version of Sage 300 CRE?

  • We can upgrade to the latest version with the year-end update, is that correct?

  • Version 18 of Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate is not compatible with Sage Estimating (Pervasive).

What exactly does this mean for those customers who wish upgrade Sage 300 CRE Accounting at year end but also wish to continue to use Sage Estimating (Pervasive) and who are not concerned with integration between the two?

As long as the machines they are using Pervasive Estimating on do not have S300 on it (including the server) they should be fine.  If ANY of the S300 computers are upgraded to 18, the Pervasive engine gets updated to a version that's no longer compatible with Estimating (they both use the same Pervasive engine on the same machine - which is why you always had to upgrade both estimating and S300 at the same time) and will no longer work on those machines.  Actually what happens is S300 will uninstall Estimating as part of it's install process, and you won't be able to install Pervasive Estimating back on a machine that now has S300 v18 on it.

But, if they're still current on their estimating annual maintenance plan (which they should be if they're able to get the S300 upgrade files) they do now already have the license rights for SQL Estimating (ie. they're already paying for it) so real question is why not get the latest and greatest?

Because our technical help (Bangert) spent a day trying to migrate 10+ years of assemblies into the SQL version and failed. I don't want to lose all the assemblies I've written over the years. PLEASE continue to support a Pervasive version of Estimating

    THANK YOU

Hi Harry, is your question what is the current latest version of CRE?  The latest version out there now is 18.2.2

  • in reply to Sue C.

If you are on version 16.5or later you can upgrade directly to the year end 18 version in December

    Debbie,

I know the latest version of Sage 300 CRE, as I pay close attention to it.

When I read through the public notice sent by Kathleen, there is nothing clearly indicate what she's talking about.

Starting with year-end 2019, we will begin exclusively supporting the latest version of Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate.

    What is the "We"?!

I was just trying to get some idea if the "We" affect our setup.

Try to read the whole announcement. It is unclear, and in someway like a junk mail mess.

  • in reply to Harry Lee

It was pretty clear to me - "We" is Sage.  Version 18 will be the only version supported for year-end releases.  A "year-end" version of 18 will be released in December.

What else are you confused about?

  • in reply to Vince Kolacia

Vince, since it sounds like you'd like to have the new Accounting but stay with the PSQL Estimating, you can just have the Estimating on a stand alone server. In other words have your IT group spin up a virtual server/VM for only estimating (it's a pretty simple process). That way you can "have your cake and eat it too"! :)

The PSQL version is yours forever. There just won't be new features added to it/it won't interface w/ accounting, but for some companies that's just fine. I have a client that is still running the DOS version (1990's version!). Again, he owns that version so he can run it forever, just won't get any new features/no accounting interface.

    Hope that helps!
