Copy/Paste Issues - SFA Premier Depreciation v2023.0

SOLVED

Hi all,

Since version 2022, I have not been able to copy and paste into and out of SFA Premier Depreciation like I should be able to. I run Windows 10 Enterprise. This happens in Asset Detail on the Main, Transactions, and Notes screens. I cannot copy out of one field and into another, or copy data from a field and out of the software (say, out of SFA and into MS Word or MS Excel or Google Docs), or vice versa where I cannot copy from an outside source and paste in--reliably, using CTRL + C and CTRL + V. I feel like maybe 30% of the time that method works. About 60% of the time right-clicking the mouse and hitting "copy" and then right-clicking the mouse and hitting "paste" works.

Wondering why I cannot simply copy and paste things like normal?

I understand the Notes tab is protected and requires one to click "Edit Note" before editing (this is a whole other issue--there should be a toggle for this in my opinion because I would always have the protection off), but this applies to copy & paste too for some reason.

I have resorted to the only thing that has 100% assurance right now which is hand-keying everything. Is there going to be a stability fix or something for this? Does anyone else have this issue?

Thanks for taking the time to read this!

    Hello Shane,

I have not seen an issue as you describe but, thinking about it, you could be running into an issue with scaling where the selection in the display is not exactly where it appears to be. Try the step in: Windows Scaling issue and see if there is an improvement.

    Hello Delray,

I referred to that article for the "Windows 10 build 1803 and higher" instructions and here is what I can do after trying that solution:

    • For both CTRL + C / CTRL + V and Right-click-copy/Right-click-paste I see success across Main tab and Notes tab(Notes does not accept Paste unless "Edit Note" is pressed, but Copy will work without that. Also, cannot Paste from Notes tab at all and into Excel--Pasting into Google Docs does work however in this instance.)
    • CTRL + C / CTRL + V and Right-click-copy/Right-click-paste work from Notes tab into Partial Disposal wizard and from Google Docs into Partial Disposal wizard.
    • Keep in mind, I restarted Premier Depreciation right after the solution and have only been disposing assets for a few hours so I do not know what will happen long-term.

    Thanks,

Ok, that sounds like the way it is supposed to behave.

    SUGGESTED

If you are copying a cell in Excel, there is a hidden new line which will not paste very well into the program, however if you copy the contents of the cell, highlighting the actual value in the cell, then it should paste into SFA with an issue. The problem there being the hidden formatting in Excel which allows it to work the way it does.

It is important to me to be able to paste into Excel; however, it seems that is an issue on Excel's end and not SFA Premier Depreciation's. So, copying data from Excel into Google Docs, then into SFA, is the best way to make this happen if I do not want to handkey. As far as within SFA itself, I am unsure if the Windows article fix actually changed my user experience, but I am appreciative of the suggestion.

Thank you for the prompt assistance! It seems Sage is on top of customer engagement around here and I find that to be a huge plus.

That seems to work when copying from Excel now. Also, copying several cells at once without going into the contents seems to be able to paste into SFA now--no matter which copy/paste method I use. I can also now copy from the Notes tab and paste into Excel, though the formatting needs to be recreated. Looks like everything is working normally as of right now, and it seems that maybe the Windows article fix had something to do with it! I'll mark that as the answer and report back if anything changes.
