There is an option in the SFA application where you can sort the report via Format Report tab based on your Related to Asset #. See How to sort a report You can also choose the customized standard report of choice and select the format report there even though the steps in the knowledgebase article indicates clicking on Reports menu, Standard Reports.

That works to sort by Related Asset #, however, it doesn't join them with the asset that they relate to. 

For example, it sorts the rows for Related Asset # for 1591, but the asset #1591 is on a completely different row, it isn't grouped with these.

Ideally I'd like to see asset #1591, and then all the assets that related to it beneath it. Can this be done?

If you populate that field with the same value, then the initial asset would be sorted with the others with that same value.
