Issue: Sage Fixed Assets only runs as admin user. 2018.1

SUGGESTED

Hi Team,

I have Sage fixed assets install for 3 users and with UAC as it stands, requires admin rights to run.

When running the local fas.exe application to run Sage Fixed assets depreciation the following happens.

"do you want to allow this app from an unknown publisher to make changes to this device?"

fas.exe

Publisher: Unknown

This is a UAC prompt. if run an a non admin nothing happens when clicking the .exe

Any help would be great, thank you.

    Hello jackvdbuk,

I see this all the time, but I do not know what really causes it. While the Prompt is the UAC standard "Do you want...", the UAC function built into the system is not the source. I, from time to time, create a basic user with remote access on one of my VMs turn UAC all the way up, and I can never reproduce this behavior but I do not have a Domain nor do I have Active Directory running or anything else in my environment which would limit the users further than Guest, and Guest will allow the program to open without the UAC prompt.

I have been told in the past changing the UAC Policies of:

    • Admin Approval Mode for the Built-In Administrator account => Disabled
    • Run all administrators in Admin Approval Mode => Enabled

Will allow the Sage Fixed Assets program to open without the need for administrative rights. I have also been told that these setting are less than desirable when trying to limit the user.

The bottom line is that the Sage Fixed Assets program expects an administrative user which may change with some of the installations changes being made in the 2019.1
