Assets Database is getting corrupted about every 6 months

SUGGESTED

Hi,

We have a client with Sage Fixed Assets. This is based on SQL server. They access the program right on the server through Citrix Terminal Server, but twice this year,

they got mysterious corruptions in the database.

They normally do not log in directly to the server, but they could. Could it be some kind of Citrix issue vis a vis SQL server?

Also, the last time this happened, the error was something about “ Incompatible conversion components" which once I stepped through the upgrade fixed the problem.

Could it be some kind of behind the scenes automatic upgrade software failing to complete?

    Hello Peter,

I'll answer second half first since that is easier issue to deal with:

"Incompatible conversion components" is an installation issue where either an older version of the Premier server components is still installed with an updated client, or the Client was never updated on the Premier Server. Depending on exactly what the setup is, the answer will vary, but the answer is some combination of uninstall/install, updating or deleting the files from the common files folder and running a repair install.

And now for the first half, since there is not an answer I can give based on your question, I am going to need some information.

Is this the Network or Premier products? Based on your question I would say Premier which is a bit perplexing since it is exceeding rare to get a corrupted database on a SQL Server. I have gotten SQL Asset database which would not open before, but usually all I need to do is rip out whatever indexes, triggers or users the DBA added (thinking they were fixing things) and all is well.

The Exception to this would be if the SQL server is a Clustered SQL server. SQL clusters are not supported and can cause database corruption.

How exactly was it determine the database was corrupted?
