Yes, you can. Once a Company is selected, you can change the Database selected, and all the companies which has matching Company setup information in that database will be available. You can even create the Merged company in yet another database.

Ah, I see, but that error does not mean what you think it means. That is a Ghost Connection see How to clear ghost connections, which if you clear it will then allow the merge to go through.

There is a Fix in in place in the 2017.1 (Due to be release in about 2 weeks) to prevent Ghost Connections, but until then, see How to set a Timeout for Idle connections which is the same fix, you just have to manually apply it.

OK. I tried and I got the following error. The Short Years information for one of the companies to be merged may have been changed by another user. Click "List Users" for a list of users in database. I click the List Users and it shows me as the user, but I don't have the database open while trying to merge.
