Updating Software Versions

SOLVED

I am attempting to upgrade my Sage Lite Depreciation software as I received an email saying an update was available. We are still using the version from 2012 and when I try to update to a more recent version, it states that I need to be using the previous year's version. Is there a way to download the 2013 version of Lite Depreciation so that I can then just continue upgrading from there or is there a way to skip to the 2016 update? The oldest version I can update/upgrade to is for 2014. Any insight would be very helpful. Thanks!

    Hello RussC32,

    The short answer is:

Note: It is usually a good plan to know the location of your database(s) prior to uninstall the 2012.

Backup your companies, Uninstall 2012, Download and Install 2014.1, Convert your database(s), Backup, Uninstall 2014.1, install 2016.1, and Convert your database(s).

    The slightly longer version:

From 2012 to 2014.1: The Default installation paths has changed and you will want to redirect the installation back to the existing SageFAS folder. (Not recommended)

The recommended path is to allow the install to go the new default location, Program Files\Sage Fixed Assets folder, and add the database(s) (below) to the new installation or create a new database and restore from the Backups taken from prior to the Uninstall of 2012. This path has the added benefit of not need to repeat the redirect of the installation for the 2016.1, since 2016.1 uses the default install path.

    Adding a database:

    1.  Go to: File, Database List Manager.
    2. Click Find, Browse to where the database(s) is located, click OK, click Search.
    3. Once found, highlight the database, click on Add. The database will disappear from the list of found databases.
    4. Cancel out of the Find dialog once done, close the Database List Manager
