    Hello Sam,

The Custom Import has a mapping process built into it where you are telling the program which column of the import file contains the data for the specific field in Sage Fixed Assets. So no, there is not a specific template to follow, other than the file itself.

For more detailed information there is the KB Article How to do a custom import or see Appendix D Custom Import Helper section of Sage Fixed Assets User's Guide found in Sage Fixed Assets Product Document site for more information on the import process.

As Delray pointed out, it is up to you to create the map. However, here is a tip you might consider.

Open up the Detail View for one of your active assets. Click on the Print Detail button located at the bottom of the screen. With the dialog box open, put the radio button on the top right option that indicates "Print blank forms for Main, Disposal and Transfer only."

Your default printer will print 3 sheets of paper, but you will be interested in only one, i.e., the Main tab. This will contain all of the fields of information, both general and book, that you are using on an asset record. In fact, if you have customized some of your fields, the customization will be reflected as well. This document is essentially your template for constructing the spreadsheet that you will use to perform the Custom Import.

After you've entered all of your data into your new spreadsheet, you will next map the columns to the appropriate field in the Depreciation software using the Custom Import Helper.

By the way, Sam, if these assets have already been depreciated, don't overlook the use of the Beginning fields.
