Error: Waiting while user is modifying asset information

SUGGESTED

Hello,

I have a user who, while working in Sage Fixed Assets, attempts to create a new asset while working in a network based asset database and receives an error saying: "Waiting while user is modifying asset information. Pressing Cancel will terminate this operation." In this case the user in the error is her own username. I have rebooted the local machine multiple times and made sure that all services and applications were closed and restarted to no avail. My last idea is to reboot the server that the database file is located on but I would like to avoid that.

You are having what we call a ghost connection on the service:

    Cause

There are many causes for a ghost connection to be left on the Sybase Service. Listed below are the most common:

The local System account does not have Full Control of the Share under Sharing\Permissions.

When connecting across subnets, the Path to the system Database (Bestsys.db) is UNC not drive letter where the drive letter is the drive where the Sage Fixed Assets product is installed on the server.

Client program task being forced closed on the remote system.

    Resolution

Warning: By applying this fix, this will clear all active connections to Database Engine on the server. In other words, all Depreciation Network users will be kicked out of the program by applying this fix.

This procedure must be completed on the application server. This is the machine that hosts server installation.
