Install Fixed Assets, but not from the server

SUGGESTED

Hi all,

Has anyone had issues installing the client from a location other than the server?  I'm hoping to package the install and install it to a VDI.

thanks, Rob

You need to copy the install.cfg (msbestsys.cfg file if you have Premier Edition) and the Depreciation-Network (Premier Depreciation if you have Premier Edition) folder and its contents on the machine where you want to install the client, and run the setup.exe file locally on that machine.

You can repackage the installer yourself with third party tools but should you encounter issues, we will not be able to assist as it is an unsupported process.

    Thanks, Dianne!

This is version 13.1.0.0.  What I have is a \SFAServ\Premier Setup folder on the server with 3 files: Demo.dbd, gdiplus.dll and setup.exe.

The installer shows 5 choices: Install Sage Fixed Assets - Premier Depreciation, - Premier Tracking, - Premier Planning, - Tracking and Installation Guide.  Premier Depreciation client is what they want.

What would the relative path be to msbestsys.cfg (if your instructions still hold for v 13)?

The MSBESTSYS.cfg file is in the root of the SFAServ folder. In your case you would copy the msbestsys.cfg file and the SFAServ\Premier Depreciation folder (and not the Premier Setup folder).

Where on my client machine do I put msbestsys.cfg?  My guess is that you are recommending that I copy the SFAServ\Premier Depreciation subtree, and leave msbestsys.cfg in SFAServ while I run setup.exe.

if you copy the entire Premier Depreciation folder to the client machine, the MSBESTSYS.CFG should reside outside (1 level up) of this folder.
