Is there a way to create a group based on status?

Our fixed assets are managed in Oracle for GAAP (have been for years and years). Several years ago we implemented Sage to manage FA for tax purposes. In maintaining the database, I reconcile cost to Oracle each month. It can be a bit of a pain because I have not found a way to create a group based purely on "status" - which is a column on my asset list view. When creating a group there is no option to filter out fully disposed items. The status codes used are active, partial and disposed. It would be very easy at a glance to be able to tie out cost if I just had a group that filtered out "disposed". I could simply use that group to run a report. Currently, I have to export it to excel and create the filters and subtotals manually. 

Any ideas?
