Bad Business Practices

I had an issue with a function not working with my Sage 50 software. In reaching out to their call center in hopes of a quick fix before my exam next week, was greeted with, "you're a student and therefore we are not allowed to help you. You have to go through your institution for assistance."

From this interaction alone, I would NEVER refer anyone to work with Sage for the very reason of their customer service.

Apparently being a student demotes you from the status of deserving quality assistance. Good to know that my efforts to work with their services, does not matter to them!  Great business practice Sage; I am thoroughly disappointed!

  • Thank you so much for your feedback. There is good and bad in this situation and I apologize you were on the bad end at first reach. We, the Educational Partner Program, provide a wonderful service to universities, colleges and their staff that includes technical support. We provide the technical support to the instructor so it can become a learning tool for the class and not one off experiences. The instructor can then use it for the class they teach.

Students are encouraged to reach out to their instructors who can then provide them with the assistance they need. We understand that at times instructors may not be available, so it is for this very reason we developed the Student Forum here on Sage City. You can post the question, inquiry and issue here and it reaches many other students perhaps with the same issue as well as other instructors.

Thank you for clarifying this. I'm a first time instructor of Sage 50 Premium Accounting 2013 with Northwest Community College. The hiring supervisor has not provided me with much in terms of resources or access to technical support. The class I'm teaching starts April 8 and I would love to have the number for the technical support. If at all possible, can you please email me . Any help would be appreciate, thanks!
