Timeslips 2017 Backups

SOLVED

Hello - I have a Windows Server based Timeslips 2017 set up. 20 workstations access the server's Firebird-based TS application. I was hoping for more advanced features with this purchase of the very latest version, but the 2017 TS Scheduled backups is still fairly basic. The problem: I cannot get it to work, so I always need to back up manually [then it works]. I tried various Database Timeouts in Station Administrator to no avail. Do all logged in users still need to be logged out of TS in order for a backup to occur?

Thanks. Happy Thanksgiving.

The other thing you have to look out for is where you are saving the backup to. The scheduled backup has to be saved locally. It cannot be saved to an external drive.

Have you checked folder permissions? Does "Everyone" have read/write access to the folder in which you are putting your backup?

Sorry for the very late reply, but I do believe assigning 'Everyone' FULL permissions across the board is what resolved this. I had to forcibly remove the inherited permissions in order to add 'Everyone', but once this was done, automated scheduled backup of Timeslips locally worked I then use a small, free program called 'RoboMirror' to copy that local backup to an external location for emergency or disaster recovery types of purposes. I also updated to the latest SR, as Steve mentioned but that did not by itself make the backups work. However, it did fix a minor unrelated invoice issue ;>
    Thanks for the insights, all!!
