Hi Laurie, I would recommend turning off interest and using the finance charge option after calculating what the interest is that you would like to charge. Or, let TS charge the interest and credit back a portion of the interest charges.

I'm still stuck on why would you not want to charge the five months interest if they have not paid?

I would either charge interest, or not charge interest, but charging 'sporatic' interest is rarely a good idea.

Nancy, I think that the attorney who asked me to do it feels like he owes the client a small favor (plus, we have not sent the client a bill for the last five months).

I ended up just dividing the interest rate by 5 and entering it into the rate field, running the bill, then changing it back to what it was before. It worked for the April bill, and I'll make sure it's correct again next month when I run the May bills.

Well, if you are going to give the client a favor, I think you should SHOW them the favor. So bill them the whole amount of interest, but issue a Courtesy Credit for the 4 months of interest.
