Well, you can do it, but it gets a little squirrelly because then the documents don't always calculate within themselves correctly.

Also, you are using a term of art there with the word 'statements' so I just want to make sure of what you are asking. Typically, in an accounting context a STATEMENT does not have anything to do with new charges, but instead is a summary of INVOICES issued and PAYMENTS received. Timeslips has the ability to Generate Statements of this type, but you usually WOULD want to show payments on that, so your question has me asking more questions than giving answers.

Now, if what you mean is the BILL/INVOICE should not show payments/AR transactions we DO see that from time to time, but then I wouldn't show the previous balance either. To me, if you show previous balance, you need to show any payments received in the period also otherwise your bill won't add up to the right total.

If this is not what you need/mean, perhaps you could give us a bit more information with an example of what you are describing.
