Invoice Layouts

Question

I am wondering if anyone knows if you can add a field to a bill layout that would show the month and year only. This would be in addition to the date of the bill. For instance, we show the date the bill was generated at the top center- but under that we have a "For professional services rendered"... after that I just want it to say "July 2018". We used to use the date range but that was causing us to miss slips that were outside the specified range. 
 I've been playing with the layouts for a while and I'm sure there is a way but I cannot seem to find it other than to enter as a text box and change the layout each month to reflect the current billing period.

Not so much when it comes to an actual date field. 
 And the more I thought about it, I don't know that a true date field would necessarily work for you. Here was my thought. So often the bills you are running at the beginning of the month are for the PRIOR month's slips. I.e., the August 1, 2018 bill is for the July 2018 time and expenses. Very rarely do customers run bills within the same month as the date of the bill. So really, you would need it to be almost a relative date of "Last Month" to even be the right month value. 
 However, all is not lost. I started thinking about a SINGLE value as TEXT (and not a true date field) that you could set once in one place, and then plug that into your bill layout somewhere. 
 The key to this approach is that it is NOT a Client value, because then you would have to update/change it on every client. So, in the layout area, you want to look at fields that appear ONCE in the database that can also then be used on a layout. I played around with the Firm Website field. You can find the place to edit the information under Setup | General. Then you can pull and use the Firm Website field in the layout to tell Timeslips to put the content of that field on the bill in X location. 
 Obviously, it is a bit of a workaround, and you can't use the Firm Website field for the actual firm website. However, it might just do the trick for you.
