Converting Data from Timeslips 2011

SUGGESTED

I'm trying to get Timeslips to convert the data from my 2011 version.  When I get to the conversion, this is the error message I get:

Initializing...

Converting Database from 2015 to 2017

Database: C:\(Main.db directory)

Started : (date)

Converting BDE to Firebird

       Source database does not exist

Completed : (date)

Database failed to convert

The database directory is correct, and the Main data file is there.  I am using the 14 day trial version, but it should still work, from what I've read.

Any ideas?

Many thanks,

Patty

Most likely you don't have BDE installed on the computer you are trying to do the conversion on. You need to install BDE on that computer.

If you are on Timeslips Premium, you can reach out to support. If you don't have an old version from which you can install BDE then a consultant like myself can assist by providing the files or doing the conversion for you.

    Hello

The error message is a bit odd given your initial sentence re: wanting to convert from version 2011.

    1) Why is your database located at the root of the C:\ drive? That is very odd. Not impossible, but very odd.

    2) Why does the converter think it is converting from v2015 right off the bat? I suspect it is because it cannot read the database at C:\ at all. 2015 to 2017 would be the step in the process where it tries to take a Paradox database to a Firebird database. What you should see is it converting from 2011 to 2012, 2012 to 2013, etc. THEN trying to go from v2015 to v2017.

    3) I suspect (given the few details provided) that you may not have the entire v2011 database, but only the Main.db file. The Main.db is only one of several files that make up a v2011 database.

Can you open v2011, and look in the lower left corner to see the path to the v2011 database?

If you are trying to convert to Premium, you should be able to contact support for assistance with it.

Caren Schwartz or I can also bring the v2011 inhouse and convert it for you, but our services would cost you extra as we are independent consultants and are not employed by Sage.

Not having BDE installed was definitely an issue I ran into, but I installed it.  So, I got this error after the installation.

You are correct, I only pulled the Main.DB file.  The bigger picture is that I have Timeslips Premium on a different computer, so I pulled Main.DB off the v2011 computer.  So, the location of the file on the new computer was a location of my choosing.  Thanks for letting me know that there are several files that make up the database.  On the v2011 computer, the files are where you would expect them to be (c:\Program Files(x86)\Timeslips\Data01\.  I see there are MANY database files there....  I'll try calling support.  Thank you very much for the response.  I'm also giving thought to having you do it, lol.  I may be back in touch.

Okay, then copy the entire database folder and you should be in better shape.

You will need both Nancy's suggestion - copy all the files - and my information - BDE installed on the computer.
