not enough memory error message

Well, I alrady did a bunch of searches through the forum, with no answers.  Here's our situation...

One of our attorneys is running TSRemote 2009 on her laptop.  Apparently, she occasionally gets the error message:

Could not start the database engine. There may not be enough memory to use it or the software may be improperly installed.

Restart your computer and try again. Reinstall if it fails again.

   Operation not applicable.(10756)

   Area: Database

   Code: 105

Address: Exception tBDEDatabaseExceptionC in module Timeslip.exe at 0010816B.

   Version: 17.0.2.0481

I did check the BDE memory, and MAXFILEHANDLES is set to 256.  Other ideas?

  • Hi Laurie,

There is a document about optimizing BDE settings that I am sure Nancy can get you as I don't have your email address.

If applying those settings to the subject machine doesn't work, I suspect that you will need to uninstall/reinstall BDE there.

  • Have you tried clearing the temp files on that machine first?

    Hope this helps.

Folks for us, it's all about the Kudos.  If you think this suggestion was especially helpful, please consider clicking the KUDOS! (yellow) icon in this message.  Thanks.
