Many of the A/R reports contain have a new(ish) filter for transactions where "A/R Includes Unapplied Amounts."  So if you use that filter and set it to YES, the report will only show transactions that have this "not yet applied" thing going on.  Here is a sample, you may have to double-click on the graphic to be able to see the details.

Suspense is another way to say unapplied. You might want to also turn on the option to Show Payment Distribution on these reports to be able to see not just which transaction would be involved, but how much is unapplied/in Suspense.
