Bill Layout Issues after upgrade to 2014

We recently upgraded from Timeslips 2011 to 2014.  After the upgrade, we have been experiencing an issue with our Bill Layouts:

  • For one of our users, some graphics are not being included when bills are printed to PDF.  The logo graphics we have in the Bill Header sections are printing properly, but an image that we include in all Footer sections is not printing.  The source JPEG files are all in the same directory, which is accessible to all users.  This problem is only happening for one user, I have been unable to recreate the issue for others.  We never had a a similar problem in the 2011 version.

Is anyone else having similar problems?  Are there any workarounds/options to fix the issue?  I tried searching, but have been unable to find a solution so far.

Thanks for your help!

I'd try the simple: take out the JPG and then put it back in to refresh it first,  and see if that helps.

    Hope this helps.

Did you import the graphic or paste it?  I think I would try opening the layout from the "problem" user's computer and add it back; see if that makes a difference.  Make sure to copy the layout before you play with it.

All of the graphics are imported.  I have tried deleting and re-importing the graphics on the user's computer to no avail.

This morning I was able to get the graphic to show up in the footer, but only after changing the image Position (alignment from Centered to "From Left" and Left/Top values).  Of course, this won't work because the graphic is now covering up other portions of the footer...ARG!

I've had similar problems in the past where graphics are fuzzy/distorted on PDFs when their position is changed slightly...perhaps the disappearing graphics are just an extreme version of this issue.

Just as a test, try creating a completely new layout and then import the graphic into that one and test it.

    Does it work correctly?

If so, you may need to rebuild your previous layout as something in it may have gotten out of whack with the conversion.

    Hope this helps.

Have you tried reducing the size of the graphic?  Outside of Timeslips I have experienced problems with printing graphics to .pdf because the margins when printing to .pdf are fractionally narrower than when printing to the printer.

I've had the same issues with footer graphics not printing in PDFs - just footers, header graphics show up just fine.. Notably, this problem does *not* happen when I use a 3rd party PDF printer driver, like CutePDF Writer, just when I try to use Timeslips' internal PDF generator.

I've tried shrinking the graphic, re-importing it, playing with margins - nothing works.

The problem with using the 3rd party driver is that  I either have to generate my bills one at a time, or have them all in one big PDF file, which is a pain in the neck.

I had same issue when converting from 2011 to 2013. Contacted customer support and ultimately had to replace all graphics in templates with new ones. No workaround. Reprinting any 2011 finalized invoices also had header issues (primarily logo on invoice). Customer support said nothing can be done with fixing graphics when printing old invoices.
