UTBMS Project Code set Vs. Activities Code Set - TS 2010

SOLVED

Within the past year we had a client request that we use Serengeti for our electronic billing, and as such, we started using Activity Codes to bill them. So in Task Lists I entered them (for example) as:  Nickname 1. Appear for/Attend and Nickname 2. A109 (etc).; and in the Client References I have them entered as Nickname 1. L101 and Nickname 2. L101.  It works great.

Recently, we had another client ask us to use Corridor.  And instead of using Activity Codes, they want to use the Project Code Set (and in looking through it, I believe we'll mostly use P300 Structure/Strategy/Analysis).  Do I enter P300 in the Task List as Nickname 1. Structure/Strategy/Analysis and Nickname 2. A300  OR do I set it up as a Reference?  And if so, what do I use for the task?

Thanks!

It sounds like the Project (P) Codes are meant to replace the Litigation (L) Codes for the Serengeti clients, so they would be entered as References.

You can read more about the codes here: www.americanbar.org/.../background_definitions_principles_and_assumptions.html

Note the lists of various code sets on the left menu.

I would probably set up a Serengeti Template Client to "hold" the P Code set and then just share it with any clients that need to use that set to avoid typing the codes in for each client and keeping the two list separate so that if the client is supposed to be using the P codes, your users don't choose an L code by mistake.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks Nancy. I'm pretty sure I follow what you're saying.

That being said, currently when entering our time entries for our Serengeti client, we have to chose a task (which is where the activity codes are entered).

When entering our time for the new Corridor client, when creating a new time entry, what should I put in for the task line?    I know that the client reference with the P Code will show up in the reference line.  Thanks!

It is my understanding that the A Codes are to be used with all Code Sets.  See B. 6. and 7. on the referenced website above.

    Hope this helps.
