I have disposed of an asset at a selling price inclusive of VAT by mistake. Is there a way to go back and edit the disposal amount as the profit/loss calculated on the disposal is now incorrct due to the incorrect proceeds amount being used.

Good news 
You can actually reverse the complete Asset Selling/Scrapping transaction, and then re-processing teh asset disposal
do the following to accomplish this:
1. Go to Fixed Assets | Maintenance | Assets
2. Find and then right click on the asset that has already been sold/scrapped
3. Select the Unsell Asset option and then continue from there.
