Chart of Accounts

Good morning

I have an existing client in Sage 200 Evolution, with a Chart of Accounts that we are using.

I created a new chart of accounts in CSV format and I wanted to find out if I can import the COA to the existing client

or if I have to manually add these new accounts ?

Thank you !

    Hi Caitlyn

I really thing the best way forward is to rather start a new Evolution company, import your master records (Customers, suppliers, stock) setup the new Chart of Accounts and then capture take on balances.

It is anyways not possible to easily change a company's chart of accounts in the front end.

Starting over is the best way to go in this case

BUT: If you're only adding new GL accounts, then surely you can import those with Data Distribution Services into the existing company

Afterwards you then need to determine if current GL accounts' balances need to be transferred to the new accounts, and to post GL journal batches for the  old and / or new GL accounts imported.

    Kind Regards

    Hi Bennie

Do you have any additional support on DDS for importing GL accounts.

I keep getting the following error and I'm not sure why, thank you.

Subscriber: Error handling record! Error: ''0                   '' is not a valid integer value. Function: HandleRecord.

    Hi Caitlyn

Please refer to the attached template file that you can use when importing your GL accounts.

And of course, please advise if you still need assistance afterwards.

But please always adhere to the following DDS import rules:

    1. You must use a CSV file to import

    2. No special characters allowed in the import file e.g. & *, : : etc

    The - symbol is allowed

    3. The CSV file must be closed when you start the import

    4. Make use of a strict one-to-one relationship between the import file's column and the field mapping screen with DDS

    Kind regards
